Object of the Month - 2019 October

Every month the Museum of the Oldest Appellation in the World highlights one of the many objects that are part of the collection shown in our permanent exhibition. Discover this month’s object and find out more about our history.

As the name implies, this peculiar shaped cart was used in the transport of casks at Real Companhia Velha’s cellars, located in Vila Nova de Gaia. This piece, among many others, represents the type of equipment used in the Company’s wine production process. The set where it belongs, presents part of the ethnographic component of the permanent exhibition, connecting it with the first exhibition area of the Museum of the Oldest Appellation in the World.
