Come and discover the object of the month and find out more about our history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Along the River Douro, many obstacles made difficult it\u2019s navigation. The demolition of these obstacles allowed the navigability of the Douro River as far as the Spanish border, strengthening the production of Port Wine in the Upper Douro region. The destruction of the Cach\u00e3o da Valeira was one of several works undertaken by the Company, which took place between 1780 and 1792.
