Stencil Mask “Paris via Rouen”

Selected as the object of October, we highlight a stencil mask. This mold contains the reference “Paris via Roeun”, as mentioned before, used to mark boxes and kites of Port wine with this city as destination.

France appears as an export market for Companhia Geral da Agricultura das Vinhas do Alto Douro wines since late 18th century. However, it was in the second half of the 20^th century (1960-70), under the aegis of Manuel da Silva Reis, that takes place the great development of the French market becoming the main destination of the Company’s Port, for many decades.
