Every month, the Museum of the Oldest Appellation in the World highlights one of the objects on display at our permanent exhibition. Discover the object of the month and find out more about our history.

Selected as the object of October, we highlight a stencil mask. This mold contains the reference “Paris via Roeun”, as mentioned before, used to mark boxes and kites of Port wine with this city as destination.

France appears as an export market for Companhia Geral da Agricultura das Vinhas do Alto Douro wines since late 18th century. However, it was in the second half of the 20th century (1960-70), under the aegis of Manuel da Silva Reis, that takes place the great development of the French market becoming the main destination of the Company’s Port, for many decades.
