This device placed on top of vats was used to activate the fixing iron. It was a mixer placed inside the vat which allowed the wine homogenization during the fining process or other treatments.
This object comes from the cellars of Real Companhia Velha in Vila Nova de Gaia. It is part of the collection of wine instruments present in the reception area of the Museum.
