Object of the Month - February 2022

Every month the Museum of the Oldest Appellation in the World highlights one of the objects that are part of the collection shown in our permanent exhibition. We invite you to discover the object of the month and find out more about our history.

As mentioned before, the sixth exhibition area at the Museum of the Oldest Appellation in the World highlights the Company’s commercial range all over the world. In this case, the selected stencil mask was used by Real Companhia Velha to mark boxes and kites for wine exportation to Copenhagen, capital of Denmark.

Regarding the historical path and the company’s commercial presence in Denmark, since 1781, Real Companhia Velha sends an emissary to the Danish port of Elseneur, which became an important trading post of Douro wine in the Baltic Sea region.
